PLC is proud of the 143 pro bono superstars who recently received the Wiley W. Manuel Certificate from the State Bar for contributing more than 50 hours of pro bono to PLC in 2014. Collectively these volunteers donated more than 7,250 hours of free legal services!
The Certificate is named after Justice Wiley W. Manuel, who became the first African American Justice of the California Supreme Court in 1977. Volunteer efforts to provide legal services to the poor honor the memory of Justice Manuel.
We are pleased to report that PLC volunteers received more Certificates this year than nearly every other legal service provider in California.
